Possible Causes
Incorrect hardness set too high, Flow meter over-reporting usage, Internal leak causing constant regeneration demand, Firmware misconfiguration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No immediate plumbing work is required. Use caution when entering installer settings.
Step-by-step:
- 1. Verify hardness: Test your raw water hardness with a reliable test kit or lab report. Adjust the AquaHouse hardness setting to match, adding only a small compensation for iron if present.
- 2. Check capacity and reserve: Ensure the programmed capacity and reserve are appropriate for your resin volume and household usage. Oversized reserve can trigger frequent regenerations.
- 3. Inspect for leaks: Look for running toilets, dripping faucets, or a stuck-open bypass that could cause continuous flow through the meter.
- 4. Validate meter readings: Compare displayed daily usage to actual measured consumption (water bill or meter). If the AquaHouse meter is reading much higher, inspect and clean/replace the flow sensor.
- 5. Reset controller: Perform a factory reset and reprogram. If E12 persists with correct settings and no leaks, the control board or meter may be defective.
