Possible Causes
Failed electronic salt level probe, Salt bridge preventing sensor contact with brine, Disconnected sensor wiring, Corroded AquaHouse salt sensor terminals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the softener before reaching into the brine tank if any electrical probes are present. Wear gloves to protect your hands from salt and sharp edges.
Step-by-step:
- 1. Break salt bridges: Open the brine tank lid. Use a broom handle or plastic rod to gently push down through the salt. If you feel a hard crust with empty space beneath, break it up so salt falls into the water.
- 2. Locate the salt sensor: Some AquaHouse models use a probe or float-type salt sensor mounted in the brine well. Remove and inspect it for heavy salt buildup or corrosion.
- 3. Clean the sensor: Rinse the sensor in warm water to remove salt crust. Do not use abrasive tools on electronic probes.
- 4. Check wiring: Follow the sensor cable to the control head. Ensure the connector is fully seated and the cable is not damaged.
- 5. Test operation: Reinstall the sensor, restore power, and wait for the controller to update the salt status. If E13 remains, the sensor may be defective.
Replace the AquaHouse salt level sensor if cleaning and wiring checks do not resolve the error.
