Possible Causes
Debris lodged in Aquasana control valve, Damaged rotor/seal pack, Misaligned cam or motor failure mid-cycle, Control board locked in regeneration mode
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Immediately place the softener in BYPASS to stop water waste. Unplug the power adapter.
Steps to stop continuous drain:
- 1. Power reset: With the unit in BYPASS, plug it back in and allow the control to attempt to return to service position. If drain flow stops, monitor for recurrence.
- 2. Inspect valve internals: If drain continues, remove the control head cover and inspect the drive motor and cam. Ensure the cam is in the service position and not jammed.
- 3. Check for debris: Shut off water, relieve pressure, and remove the control head from the Aquasana resin tank (follow manual). Inspect the rotor/seal pack and internal passages for resin beads or debris.
- 4. Replace rotor/seal pack: If seals are worn or damaged, install a new rotor and seal kit specific to your Aquasana valve.
- 5. If problem persists: The entire control valve head may need replacement by a technician.
