Possible Causes
Broken lower distributor screen in Aquasana resin tank, Cracked riser tube, Excessive backwash flow rate, Incorrect installation of tank internals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Place the softener in BYPASS immediately to prevent further resin migration. Unplug power.
Steps to address resin loss:
- 1. Flush fixtures: Remove aerators and flush lines to clear resin beads from faucets and appliances.
- 2. Inspect tank internals: Shut off water, relieve pressure, and disconnect the Aquasana control head from the resin tank. Remove the riser tube and inspect the bottom distributor/screen for cracks or breaks.
- 3. Replace damaged parts: Install a new riser tube and bottom distributor assembly. If a large amount of resin has been lost, rebed the tank with new Aquasana-compatible resin.
- 4. Check backwash settings: Ensure the control is programmed with the correct backwash flow for your tank size.
