Possible Causes

Clogged brine injector/venturi, Air leak at brine line connection, Clogged brine well or safety float, Salt bridge preventing water contact with salt

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Place the unit in BYPASS and unplug power. Wear gloves when handling brine.

Steps to restore brine draw:

  • 1. Check brine level and salt: Ensure there is water in the bottom of the Aquasana brine tank and that salt is not bridged above the water.
  • 2. Inspect brine line: Verify the brine line from the tank to the control head is not kinked and that all connections are tight.
  • 3. Clean brine well and float: Remove the brine well cover inside the tank. Lift out the safety float assembly and clean any salt sludge or debris. Ensure the float moves freely.
  • 4. Clean injector/venturi: Remove and clean the injector and screen in the Aquasana control head as described in brine error procedures.
  • 5. Test suction: During brine draw stage, disconnect the brine line at the tank and place the end in a bucket of water. If the softener does not draw water, the injector or valve is still restricted and may need replacement.
