Possible Causes
Clogged drain line from Aquasana control valve, Drain line frozen or kinked, Blocked drain flow control, Debris in valve drain port
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Put the softener in BYPASS and unplug power. Be prepared for water discharge when disconnecting the drain line.
Steps to troubleshoot E7 (drain flow):
- 1. Inspect drain hose: Follow the Aquasana drain line from the control head to the drain. Straighten any kinks and ensure the end is not submerged or blocked.
- 2. Check for freezing: In cold climates, ensure the drain line is not routed through unheated spaces where it can freeze.
- 3. Disconnect and flush: Remove the drain line from the control head. Attempt to blow through the hose; if restricted, flush it with water or replace it.
- 4. Clean drain port and flow control: At the control head, inspect the drain port and any flow control insert for debris. Rinse and clear any obstructions.
- 5. Reconnect and test: Reattach the drain line, restore water, and run a manual regeneration. Observe the drain flow; it should be strong and steady during backwash.
- 6. If E7 persists: Internal valve passages may be obstructed or damaged. The control valve head may require professional service or replacement.
