Possible Causes
Damaged keypad membrane, Moisture intrusion into control panel, Loose ribbon cable between keypad and board, Control board interface failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the power adapter before opening the control head. Do not spray cleaners directly on the display or buttons.
Steps to troubleshoot E8 (keypad):
- 1. Power reset: Unplug for 5 minutes and plug back in. If E8 remains and buttons are unresponsive, continue.
- 2. Inspect for moisture: Check the front of the Aquasana control head for signs of condensation or water intrusion. Dry the exterior thoroughly.
- 3. Open control head: Remove the cover and inspect the keypad ribbon cable connection to the control board. Reseat the connector carefully.
- 4. Visual inspection: Look for corrosion or discoloration on the keypad connector or board.
- 5. Test buttons: With the cover off (but all electrical parts protected from splashes), plug in power and test button response. If still unresponsive, the keypad membrane is likely defective.
- 6. Replace keypad or control head: On many Aquasana models, the keypad is integrated with the control head. Replace the control head / user interface assembly as a unit.
