How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Immediately place the softener in BYPASS and shut off the main water supply if leak is severe. Unplug power.
Steps to repair control head leak:
- 1. Depressurize: Open a nearby faucet to relieve pressure.
- 2. Remove control head: Follow Aquasana instructions to disconnect plumbing unions and lift the control head off the resin tank.
- 3. Inspect O-ring and neck: Examine the large tank O-ring for cuts or flattening. Inspect the tank neck for cracks or chips.
- 4. Clean and replace: Clean sealing surfaces and replace the O-ring with an Aquasana-compatible tank O-ring. Lubricate with silicone grease.
- 5. Reinstall head: Seat the control head squarely and tighten per manufacturer torque guidelines. Do not overtighten.
- 6. Restore water and check: Slowly pressurize and check for leaks.
