Water remains hard even though the Aquasana softener appears to be operating normally (no error codes)

Safety first: Put the softener in BYPASS before disassembling any plumbing. Unplug the power adapter.

Steps to address persistent hard water:

• 1. Test hardness: Use a test kit on raw and softened water. If softened water hardness is close to raw water, the resin is not exchanging properly.
• 2. Verify regeneration: Confirm that the Aquasana unit is regenerating at the programmed time (listen for valve movement and drain flow). If not, troubleshoot control and valve errors first.
• 3. Increase regeneration frequency: Temporarily increase regeneration frequency or capacity setting to see if performance improves.
• 4. Iron cleaning (if applicable): If your water has iron, perform a resin cleaning using an iron-removal resin cleaner following the product and Aquasana guidelines.
• 5. Replace resin tank: If the system is several years old and performance does not improve, replace the Aquasana softener resin tank / mineral tank assembly or have a technician rebed the resin.
