Possible Causes

Failed valve position switch, Misaligned encoder wheel, Broken position sensor wiring, Worn rotor seal causing drag

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the unit and close the inlet valve. Relieve pressure.

  • Access position sensor: Remove the control head cover. Locate the position switch or encoder (often near the cam gear or motor shaft).
  • Inspect encoder wheel: Check that the encoder wheel or cam is not cracked, loose, or rubbing against the housing. Realign or tighten as needed.
  • Check sensor wiring: Ensure the position sensor harness is fully seated on both the sensor and the control board. Look for broken or frayed wires.
  • Manually cycle valve: Use the manual advance knob to move the valve through all positions. If it binds, inspect the rotor and seal pack for wear or debris and replace if necessary.
  • Replace sensor if faulty: If E06 persists after mechanical issues are resolved, replace the AquaSoft valve position sensor/encoder.
