Possible Causes
Incorrect hardness setting, Faulty optional hardness probe, Corrupted control memory, Misconfigured capacity setting
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No internal electrical work is required for basic checks, but unplug the unit if removing covers.
- Verify water hardness: Test your raw water hardness with a test kit or lab report. Compare to the hardness value programmed into the AquaSoft control.
- Check capacity and reserve: Enter the installer menu and confirm the grain capacity and reserve settings match the resin volume and household usage.
- Disable/inspect hardness probe (if equipped): If your AquaSoft model uses an electronic hardness sensor, inspect the probe wiring and clean the sensor tip according to the manual. Temporarily disable the sensor in programming to see if E10 clears.
- Factory reset: Perform a factory reset of the control (see AquaSoft manual) and re-enter all settings. This can clear corrupted memory.
- Replace sensor or board: If E10 persists with correct settings and a known-good hardness probe, the main control board may need replacement.
