Possible Causes
Valve motor stalling under load, Severe resin bed fouling, Blocked drain line, Incorrect cycle time programming
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and close inlet and outlet valves. Relieve pressure.
- Check drain line: Inspect the drain hose for kinks, clogs, or a frozen section. Ensure the drain air gap and standpipe are clear. Clean or replace as needed.
- Observe regeneration: Restore power and water, then start a manual regeneration. Listen for the motor and watch the drain flow. Weak or no drain flow indicates a blockage.
- Inspect valve internals: Remove the control head cover and check the rotor, seal pack, and spacers for wear or debris. Replace the AquaSoft seal and spacer kit if movement is stiff.
- Review programming: Confirm that backwash, brine draw, and rinse times are set according to AquaSoft specifications for your resin volume.
- Replace motor if needed: If the motor overheats or stalls during regeneration despite a clear drain and good seals, replace the valve drive motor.
