How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Use appropriate disinfectants and follow all safety instructions. Do not mix chemicals.
- Disinfect softener: Follow AquaSoft guidelines to sanitize the resin tank using household bleach or an approved sanitizer added to the brine well, then run a full regeneration.
- Clean brine tank: Empty the brine tank, scrub interior surfaces with a mild bleach solution, rinse thoroughly, and refill with clean salt.
- Flush plumbing: Run hot and cold water at all fixtures for several minutes to clear stagnant water.
- Install sulfur treatment: If raw water contains hydrogen sulfide, consider installing a dedicated sulfur filter ahead of the softener.
