Possible Causes
Clogged resin bed with iron or sediment, Blocked inlet/outlet screens, Undersized plumbing connections, Collapsed lower distributor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Close inlet and outlet valves and relieve pressure before opening the system.
- Check bypass: Place the AquaSoft in bypass. If pressure returns to normal, the restriction is inside the softener.
- Inspect inlet/outlet screens: Remove the control head and clean any screens or strainers at the inlet and outlet ports.
- Evaluate resin condition: If the resin tank is very old or has been exposed to iron, the resin may be fouled and restricting flow. Consider replacing the resin media.
- Check lower distributor: With the control head removed, gently move the riser tube. If it feels loose or broken, the bottom distributor may have collapsed and needs replacement.
