Possible Causes
Drain line connected to undersized standpipe, No air gap causing siphoning, Drain line run too long or uphill, Clogged building drain
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Avoid contact with wastewater. Wear gloves and eye protection.
- Check drain connection: Ensure the AquaSoft drain line discharges into an approved air gap fitting and standpipe of adequate size (typically 1-1/2" or larger).
- Shorten or reroute drain line: Keep the drain line as short and straight as possible, with minimal elevation above the softener.
- Clear building drain: If the standpipe or floor drain backs up, have a plumber clear the building drain.
- Install proper air gap: If the drain line is submerged or sealed, install a proper air gap to prevent siphoning and backflow.
