E01
AquaUnique
Inlet Water Supply Fault
Control panel shows E01 and the softener will not start a regeneration cycle

Possible Causes
Closed or partially closed inlet bypass valve, Clogged inlet screen on control valve, Low or no household water pressure, Kinked or blocked inlet plumbing to softener head
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Turn off electrical power to the softener and close the main water supply if you will be disconnecting any plumbing. Depressurize the system by opening a nearby cold-water faucet.
Step-by-step:
- Check bypass position: Verify the AquaUnique bypass valve is in the SERVICE position (both inlet and outlet valves open, bypass closed). If in BYPASS, slowly return it to SERVICE.
- Inspect inlet shutoff: Confirm the dedicated inlet shutoff valve to the softener is fully open.
- Clean inlet screen: Remove power, close inlet/outlet valves, relieve pressure, then remove the inlet union at the control valve. Pull out and rinse the inlet screen/filter under running water. Reinstall and tighten carefully.
- Check household pressure: Ensure you have at least 20–25 psi at the softener. If pressure is low, correct well pump/pressure tank issues first.
- Run a manual regeneration: Restore power and water, then initiate a manual regeneration from the control panel. If E01 clears and cycle runs, monitor for recurrence.
When to call a technician: If E01 returns immediately after confirming flow and cleaning the inlet screen, the internal flow sensor or control valve body may be faulty and should be tested or replaced by a professional.
