Possible Causes

Failed turbine flow sensor, Clogged turbine chamber with iron or debris, Damaged flow sensor wiring harness, Incorrect meter type setting in control programming

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the softener before removing the flow sensor or opening the control head. Close inlet/outlet valves and relieve pressure if you will remove plumbing connections.

Step-by-step:

  • Check programming: Enter the AquaUnique installer menu and verify the correct meter type and capacity are selected for your model. Refer to the user manual for exact codes.
  • Inspect wiring: Remove the control cover and locate the flow sensor connector. Ensure it is fully seated and that the cable is not damaged or pinched.
  • Clean turbine: Shut off water and relieve pressure. Remove the flow sensor/turbine housing from the control valve outlet. Rinse the turbine wheel and housing to remove iron, sand, or scale. Ensure the wheel spins freely with a gentle puff of air.
  • Reinstall and test: Reassemble, restore water and power, then run water at a faucet while watching the display. The flow indicator should show usage and E05 should clear.

When to call a technician: If the display still does not register flow and E05 remains, the flow sensor or control board input circuit may need replacement.
