Possible Causes

Stuck brine safety float in brine well, Defective brine fill valve in valve head, Blocked brine overflow line, Incorrect brine level setting in controller

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the BWT Perla. Do not allow the brine tank to overflow; keep a wet/dry vacuum or buckets ready.

  • Inspect brine safety float: Remove the brine well cover inside the salt tank. Lift out the float assembly and check that the float moves freely up and down. Clean any salt bridges or sludge that may restrict movement.
  • Check overflow line: Ensure the brine tank overflow hose is connected and routed to a suitable drain. Clear any blockages at the overflow fitting.
  • Verify brine fill timing: In the BWT Perla control menu, check the programmed brine fill time or volume. Reset to factory defaults if it has been altered incorrectly.
  • Test brine fill valve: Restore power and initiate a manual regeneration. Observe the brine fill stage. If water continues to flow into the brine tank beyond the programmed time, the brine fill valve in the valve head may be leaking and the valve head assembly should be replaced.
  • After correction: Remove excess water from the brine tank if necessary and run a full regeneration to normalize operation.
