Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before opening the valve head. Wear gloves when handling salt and brine.
- Check salt level: Open the BWT brine tank lid. If salt is below the recommended level or you see only water, refill with the correct BWT-approved tablet or block salt. Do not use rock salt.
- Inspect brine well: Locate the brine well (vertical tube inside the tank). Remove its cap and check the air check valve and float assembly for salt bridges or sludge. Clean with warm water and reassemble.
- Clear salt bridge: If a hard crust (salt bridge) has formed above the water level, gently break it with a plastic rod, being careful not to damage the tank.
- Check brine line: Follow the small brine hose from the BWT valve head to the brine well. Ensure it is not kinked or pinched. Remove both ends and flush with warm water to clear blockages.
- Clean injector/nozzle: On the BWT control valve, remove the injector/nozzle assembly (refer to the unit’s service diagram). Soak in vinegar or citric acid solution to dissolve scale, rinse thoroughly, and reinstall.
After cleaning and refilling salt, initiate a manual regeneration. If E2 reappears, the brine valve or injector assembly may need replacement.
