Possible Causes
Insufficient rinse time programmed, Blocked drain line reducing rinse flow, Faulty brine valve not closing fully, Incorrect injector size installed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Avoid drinking water that tastes strongly of salt until the issue is resolved.
- Check drain line: Ensure the drain hose is not kinked, elevated excessively, or partially blocked. Clear any obstructions.
- Verify program settings: In the BWT controller, confirm that the fast rinse and slow rinse durations match the specification for your model. Increase rinse time slightly if allowed.
- Inspect brine valve: Remove and inspect the brine valve assembly in the valve head. Ensure it moves freely and seals properly when closed.
- Confirm injector size: Verify that the installed injector/nozzle matches the original BWT specification. An oversized injector can draw too much brine.
- Flush system: After corrections, run several tankfuls of water through the system before using for drinking.
If salty taste persists, have a technician verify flow rates and valve operation.
