Possible Causes
Leaking brine float valve, Stuck open refill valve in Cillit head, Blocked brine overflow fitting, Incorrect refill time
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate water to the softener and mop up any spilled brine promptly to prevent corrosion.
- Inspect float assembly: Remove the brine well cover and move the float up and down. It should shut off water when raised. Clean salt deposits and ensure the float rod is straight.
- Check overflow: Verify that the overflow elbow on the side of the Cillit brine tank is clear and that the hose is not blocked.
- Service refill valve: Remove and inspect the refill valve components in the control head. Replace worn seals using a Cillit brine valve repair kit.
- Adjust refill volume: Reduce the programmed refill time to the value specified for your model and salt dosage.
