Possible Causes
Empty salt in Cillit brine tank, Blocked brine injector nozzle, Clogged brine line or air check valve, Stuck brine float assembly
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before opening the control head. Wear gloves when handling salt and brine.
- Check salt level: Open the brine tank lid. If the salt is below the manufacturer’s minimum mark or you see only water, refill with the recommended Cillit tablet salt or high‑purity regeneration salt. Do not use rock salt.
- Free salt bridge: Use a plastic rod to gently poke down through the salt. If you feel a hollow space (salt bridge), break it up so salt contacts the water surface.
- Clean brine injector: Isolate water, relieve pressure, then remove the injector housing from the Cillit valve head (usually under a small cover labeled “INJECTOR”). Take out the injector nozzle and throat, soak in warm water and brush off deposits. Ensure all small orifices are clear.
- Inspect brine line and air check: Follow the brine hose from the valve to the brine well. Check for kinks, blockages, or leaks. Remove and clean the air check valve at the bottom of the brine well; ensure the ball moves freely.
- Test brine draw: Start a manual regeneration and observe the brine level. It should steadily drop during the brine draw phase. If not, recheck injector and brine line or replace the Cillit brine injector kit.
