Possible Causes
Blocked or kinked Cillit drain hose, Drain line run too long or too high, Air gap blocked, Frozen drain line
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: During regeneration, drain water can be discharged at high flow. Ensure the drain line is secure before testing.
- Inspect drain hose: Follow the entire length of the Cillit drain hose. Straighten any kinks and remove sharp bends. Shorten the hose if it exceeds the maximum length specified by Cillit.
- Check termination: Ensure the hose discharges into an open drain with an air gap. Do not insert the hose deeply into a standpipe or trap, which can cause backpressure.
- Clear blockages: Disconnect the hose from the valve and blow through it or flush with water to remove sludge or scale. Replace if heavily fouled.
- Check for freezing: In cold climates, verify that the drain line is not routed through unheated spaces where it can freeze. Thaw gently and insulate as needed.
- Test regeneration: Reconnect the hose, secure it, and run a manual regeneration. Confirm that drain flow is strong and that E15 does not reappear.
