Cillit
Salt Bridging in Brine Tank
Salt forms a hard crust (salt bridge) in the Cillit brine tank and water level stays low underneath

Possible Causes
High humidity causing salt to cake, Using fine or impure salt, Overfilling brine tank, Infrequent salt usage
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Wear gloves and avoid striking the tank hard, which can crack plastic.
- Identify bridge: Tap the top of the salt bed with a plastic tool. If it sounds hollow, a bridge is present.
- Break the bridge: Gently push a broom handle or plastic rod down through the salt to break the crust, allowing salt to fall into the water below.
- Remove caked salt: Scoop out heavily caked salt and discard. Refill with fresh Cillit‑approved tablet salt.
- Prevent recurrence: Keep the salt level between one‑third and two‑thirds full, and store salt in a dry place.
