Possible Causes
High inlet pressure, Rapid valve shifts in Cillit control head, Loose plumbing supports, Air in lines
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Sudden pressure changes can stress plumbing. Do not exceed rated pressure.
- Check pressure: Measure inlet pressure and install or adjust a pressure reducing valve if above Cillit’s recommended maximum.
- Secure pipes: Add or tighten pipe clips and supports near the softener to reduce movement.
- Install water hammer arrestors: Fit arrestors on nearby fast‑closing fixtures (e.g. washing machines) if hammer persists.
- Bleed air: After any plumbing work, run taps to purge air before starting regeneration.
