• Check hardness setting: Test raw water hardness with a Cillit test kit and compare to the value programmed in the controller. Adjust to the correct value.
• Verify capacity: Ensure the resin volume and capacity settings match the actual Cillit softener model and resin load.
• Monitor usage: Compare the controller’s recorded daily usage to your actual consumption. If the meter shows much higher usage, inspect for leaks or a faulty flow meter.
• Adjust reserve and safety factors: Reduce overly conservative reserve capacity or safety factors in the programming, within Cillit’s recommended limits.
