Possible Causes
Damaged O-ring between valve and tank, Cracked valve body, Loose tank adapter, Over-tightened plumbing stressing valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Immediately place the unit in bypass and relieve pressure. Unplug the unit before working on leaks.
Steps:
- Identify leak source: Dry the area and observe where water reappears. Check around the valve-to-tank connection, plumbing fittings, and top of the tank.
- Check plumbing stress: Ensure rigid piping is not putting side load on the valve. Support piping as needed.
- Inspect valve-to-tank O-ring: Remove the Clack valve from the mineral tank. Inspect the large O-ring at the tank neck for cuts or flattening. Replace the valve-to-tank O-ring if damaged.
- Examine tank neck and valve body: Look for cracks in the fiberglass tank neck or plastic valve body. Replace the mineral tank or valve body if cracked.
- Reassemble and test: Lubricate new O-rings with silicone grease, reinstall the valve, slowly pressurize the system, and check for leaks.
Warning: Do not overtighten threaded fittings into the valve body; use proper thread sealant and torque to avoid cracking.
