Display shows “Err 7” and the system does not draw brine during regeneration.

Safety: Unplug the unit and place it in bypass before working on the brine system.

Steps:

• Check brine level movement: During a manual brine draw step, mark the brine level in the tank. If the level does not drop after 10–15 minutes, brine is not being drawn.
• Inspect brine line and fittings: Check the brine line from the Clack valve to the brine tank for kinks, cracks, or loose fittings. Tighten all compression nuts and replace any cracked tubing.
• Clean injector: Remove and clean the Clack brine injector and screen as described in the injector cleaning procedure. A partially clogged injector will prevent proper suction.
• Check brine valve: Remove the brine valve assembly from the valve body. Inspect for debris or scale preventing full movement. Clean or replace the brine valve assembly if it sticks.
• Inspect brine tank: Look for a salt bridge (hard crust above water level) or salt mushing at the bottom. Break up any bridge with a broom handle and remove excess mush. Ensure the brine well and safety float move freely and are not clogged.
• Test again: Reassemble, restore water and power, and run a manual regeneration to confirm that brine is now being drawn and Err 7 clears.

Note: Persistent brine draw issues can also be caused by very low water pressure; verify that inlet pressure meets Clack specifications.
