How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Bypass and unplug the unit. Wear gloves when working with salt and brine.

  • Check for salt bridge: Probe the salt bed with a plastic rod to ensure salt is in contact with water. Break any hard crusts.
  • Inspect brine line and fittings: Tighten all compression nuts and fittings on the brine line. Replace cracked tubing.
  • Clean injector: Remove and soak the injector/nozzle and throat in vinegar to dissolve scale and iron. Clean the injector screen as well.
  • Service brine valve: Remove the brine valve/check valve assembly and clean or replace it with a Crystal Quest brine valve kit.
  • Test draw: During the next regeneration, observe the brine tank. The water level should drop noticeably during brine draw.
