Possible Causes
Defective brine refill valve in Crystal Quest control head, Incorrect refill time setting, Stuck brine flow control or orifice, Control board output failure for refill solenoid (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit and close the inlet valve. Bypass the softener and relieve pressure.
- Verify settings: Enter programming mode and confirm the brine refill time matches Crystal Quest specifications for your tank size. Correct any obvious misprogramming.
- Inspect brine refill port: Remove the brine refill flow control or orifice from the control valve. Clean any debris or scale and verify the orifice is not blocked.
- Check refill valve: During a manual regeneration, observe whether water flows into the brine tank during the refill step. If no flow and the orifice is clear, the internal refill valve or solenoid may be faulty.
- Replace components: Install a new Crystal Quest brine refill flow control and valve assembly. If the valve does not energize at all, replace or repair the Crystal Quest main control board.
