Possible Causes
Clogged inlet screen in Crystal Quest control valve, Fouled resin bed with iron or sediment, Undersized plumbing or bypass, Partially closed inlet/outlet valves
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Bypass the softener and compare flow with and without the unit in service.
- Compare flow: If flow is normal in bypass but low in service, the restriction is within the softener.
- Check valves: Ensure inlet and outlet isolation valves are fully open.
- Clean inlet screen: Remove and clean the inlet screen or filter in the Crystal Quest control head. Rinse away sediment.
- Resin fouling: If the system is older or exposed to iron, perform a resin cleaning with an approved resin cleaner. If performance does not improve, replace the media with Crystal Quest cation softening resin.
