Possible Causes

Damaged piston or seals in Crystal Quest control valve, Debris lodged in drain port, Misaligned cam leaving valve between positions, Cracked valve body around drain passage

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Immediately place the unit in bypass to stop water waste, then unplug it. Relieve pressure by opening a faucet.

  • Confirm mode: Ensure the display shows SERVICE and not a regeneration step. If it is stuck in regen, manually advance through cycles to SERVICE.
  • Inspect drain port: Remove the drain line and check for resin beads or debris. Flush the port with clean water.
  • Rebuild valve: If water still flows from the open drain port in SERVICE, the internal seals are leaking. Replace the piston and seal/spacer stack with a Crystal Quest piston and seal kit.
  • Check cam/motor: Verify the drive cam fully returns the piston to the SERVICE position. Replace the Crystal Quest drive motor assembly if it stalls or stops short.
