Possible Causes
High inlet pressure to Crystal Quest softener, Rapid valve closure during cycle changes, Long rigid plumbing runs without arrestors, Loose pipes in walls
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Sudden pressure spikes can damage plumbing. If severe, consult a licensed plumber.
- Measure pressure: Attach a gauge to a nearby faucet. If static pressure exceeds 80 psi, install or adjust a pressure reducing valve on the main line.
- Install arrestors: Add water hammer arrestors near the softener or at problem fixtures.
- Secure piping: Clamp and support loose pipes to framing to reduce movement.
- Adjust cycle timing: If your Crystal Quest model allows, enable "soft close" or extended cycle transitions to reduce sudden flow changes.
