Possible Causes
Disconnected or failed salt level sensor, Salt bridge preventing sensor movement, Corroded sensor wiring, Control board sensor input failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: This is a low-voltage sensor issue, but avoid working with wet hands around electrical components. Unplug the unit before opening the control head.
- Check salt level: Open the brine tank lid. If salt is above the sensor float or probe, break up any salt bridge with a broom handle, being careful not to damage the float assembly.
- Inspect sensor assembly: Locate the Culligan salt level sensor or float in the brine tank. Ensure it moves freely up and down and is not encrusted with salt. Clean with warm water if needed.
- Verify wiring: Follow the sensor cable to the control head. Reseat the connector and inspect for corrosion or damage.
- Test after reset: Restore power and clear the error (if your model allows). If Err 7 returns immediately with a known-good sensor, the control board input may be defective.
If the sensor is physically damaged or corroded, replace the salt level sensor assembly.
