Possible Causes

Stuck turbine or paddle wheel, Failed Hall-effect flow sensor, Broken meter cable, Incorrect meter type programmed

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Place the softener in bypass and relieve pressure before removing the meter assembly.

  • Locate the meter: On many Culligan models, the flow meter is mounted on the outlet side of the control valve or in a separate meter housing.
  • Inspect for debris: Remove the meter cap and pull out the turbine or paddle wheel. Check for sand, iron sludge, or plastic shavings. Clean thoroughly with water.
  • Check sensor and cable: Ensure the sensor is fully seated in the meter body and the cable is intact from the meter to the control board. Reseat the connector on the board.
  • Verify programming: In the installer menu, confirm the correct meter type and size are selected for your Culligan model.

After cleaning and reassembly, take the unit out of bypass and run water at a faucet while watching the display to confirm that flow is being registered.
