Culligan
Salt Bridging
Salt forms a hard crust (salt bridge) in the Culligan brine tank

Possible Causes
High humidity, Using pellet salt in tall narrow tank, Overfilling salt, Infrequent regenerations
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: No electrical or pressurized work is required.
- Identify bridge: Tap the side of the brine tank. A hollow sound near the top with solid salt above indicates a bridge.
- Break the bridge: Gently push a broom handle or plastic rod down through the salt to break the crust, being careful not to damage the brine float assembly.
- Remove loose chunks: Scoop out large chunks so water can contact remaining salt.
- Prevent recurrence: Keep salt level no more than about 2/3 full and use high-purity solar or pellet salt recommended by Culligan.
