Culligan
Over-Regeneration / Misprogrammed Capacity
Softener uses excessive salt and regenerates too frequently

Possible Causes
Hardness set too high, Capacity set too low, Flow meter misreading usage, Incorrect meter size programmed
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Only control programming changes are needed for basic correction.
- Verify actual hardness: Test your raw water hardness and compare to the programmed value. Reduce the setting if it is significantly higher than actual.
- Check capacity and salt dosage: In the installer menu, confirm the softener size (cubic feet of resin) and salt dosage are correct for your Culligan model.
- Review water usage: Compare the control’s usage readings to your water bill or a separate meter. If the softener shows much higher usage, troubleshoot the flow meter.
After adjustments, monitor salt usage for several weeks and fine-tune settings as needed.
