Possible Causes
Worn valve cover O-ring, Cracked valve body, Loose retaining screws, Damaged plumbing connections
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off main water and place the softener in bypass. Relieve pressure by opening a faucet before loosening any fittings.
- Identify leak point: Dry the area and observe where water reappears—around the valve cover, plumbing adapters, or bypass.
- Tighten screws/fittings: Gently snug valve cover screws and plumbing connections, avoiding over-tightening plastic parts.
- Inspect O-rings: If leaking at the valve cover, remove the cover and inspect the large O-ring. Replace if flattened, cracked, or nicked, using a Culligan-approved seal kit.
Cracked valve bodies or bypass housings typically require replacement of the entire component.
