Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect the softener from mains power and close the inlet water valve before working on the unit.
- Check water supply: Verify the main cold water supply to the Ecowater softener is open and that there is adequate pressure. Open a nearby cold tap to confirm flow.
- Inspect inlet valve screen: Remove the inlet connection at the Ecowater bypass/valve block. Check and clean any mesh screens or filters for sand, rust, or limescale. Rinse thoroughly and reinstall.
- Test the inlet valve coil: With power disconnected, remove the front cover and locate the inlet (fill) valve coil on the Ecowater valve head. Disconnect the coil connector and measure resistance with a multimeter. A reading of open circuit or near 0 Ω indicates a faulty coil.
- Check wiring harness: Inspect the harness from the control board to the inlet valve coil for pinched, broken, or corroded wires and loose connectors. Reseat all plugs firmly.
- Power reset: Restore power and perform a manual regeneration start. If Err 01 reappears after confirming water supply and wiring, the inlet valve assembly is likely defective and should be replaced.
Do not attempt to disassemble the valve body under pressure. If you are unsure, contact an authorized Ecowater Europe service technician.
