Possible Causes
Brine valve stuck or blocked, Venturi / injector clogged with salt or iron, Brine line kinked or leaking air, Brine valve coil or wiring fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the softener and close the bypass valves before opening any brine connections.
- Check brine level: Ensure there is sufficient water in the brine tank and that salt is not forming a solid bridge above the water.
- Inspect brine line: Follow the brine hose from the Ecowater valve head to the brine well. Straighten any kinks and ensure all connections are tight and not drawing air.
- Clean venturi/injector: Remove the venturi/injector assembly from the Ecowater valve head (usually under a cap). Soak parts in warm water and gently brush away salt, iron, or debris. Reassemble exactly as removed.
- Test brine valve coil: With power off, disconnect the brine valve coil and measure resistance. Replace if open or shorted. Inspect the plunger for sticking due to scale.
- Run a manual regeneration: Restore power, initiate a manual regeneration, and observe brine draw. If Err 02 returns, the brine valve assembly or control board may require replacement.
