Possible Causes

Drive motor failure, Cam gear jammed by debris, Motor position switch (encoder) fault, Broken or stripped gear in valve head

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect power before removing the valve cover.

  • Listen for motor operation: With the cover on, plug in the unit and start a manual regeneration. If you hear no motor noise, suspect a failed drive motor or no power to the motor.
  • Inspect drive assembly: Remove the front/side cover of the Ecowater valve head. Check the main cam gear and smaller gears for broken teeth, misalignment, or foreign objects.
  • Check motor wiring: Verify the motor connector is fully seated on the control board and at the motor. Look for burnt or loose pins.
  • Test motor: With power disconnected, measure motor coil resistance. Compare to Ecowater service specs; an open circuit indicates a bad motor.
  • Check position switch/encoder: Inspect the cam position switch or encoder disc for damage or misalignment. Ensure the switch actuates as the cam rotates.
  • Reassemble and test: After clearing jams or replacing the motor/gear set, reassemble the valve head and run a full manual regeneration to confirm proper step advancement.
