Possible Causes
Flow turbine blocked by debris, Hall-effect flow sensor failure, Wiring harness damage to flow sensor, Incorrect sensor installation orientation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Close the bypass valves and relieve pressure before removing any plumbing connections.
- Verify flow reading: Open a tap and check the Ecowater display for flow indication. If it remains at 0 despite water flow, suspect a sensor or turbine issue.
- Inspect turbine housing: Isolate the softener using the bypass. Remove the inlet/outlet union to access the turbine housing. Check for sand, scale, or plastic fragments blocking the turbine.
- Clean turbine: Rinse the turbine and housing with clean water. Ensure the turbine spins freely with a gentle puff of air or water.
- Check sensor connection: Locate the flow sensor cable on the valve head. Reseat the connector on both the sensor and control board. Inspect for cuts or crushed cable.
- Test sensor: With the unit powered, gently spin the turbine and observe if the display registers flow. If not, the Hall sensor is likely defective.
- Reinstall correctly: Ensure the turbine and sensor are installed in the correct orientation (flow direction arrow). Re-pressurize slowly and check for leaks.
