Display shows “Err 05” and time-of-day or regeneration schedule cannot be set or is lost frequently

Safety: Disconnect mains power before removing the control panel.

• Check power supply: Verify the Ecowater softener is connected to a stable power source. Avoid shared outlets with heavy loads that cause voltage drops.
• Reset controller: Unplug the unit for 5 minutes, then reconnect. Reprogram the time and regeneration settings according to the user manual.
• Inspect control board: Remove the front cover and visually inspect the control PCB for burn marks, corrosion, or swollen capacitors.
• Check backup power device: If the model uses a coin cell or supercapacitor for memory backup, inspect and replace if visibly damaged or out of specification (service manual required).
• Firmware reset/update: Some Ecowater Europe models allow a factory reset via key combination. Perform this only if you have the programming data. If Err 05 persists, the control board will likely need replacement.
