Possible Causes

Optical or float-type salt sensor failure, Sensor cable damaged or disconnected, Heavy salt bridging preventing sensor movement, Sensor contaminated with salt sludge

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit before working inside the brine tank.

  • Check for salt bridging: Open the brine tank lid. Use a broom handle or plastic rod to gently push down on the salt. If it feels hollow underneath, break up the salt bridge so it collapses into the water.
  • Inspect sensor: Locate the Ecowater salt level sensor (float or optical probe) in the brine well. Ensure it moves freely and is not buried in hardened salt.
  • Clean sensor: Remove the sensor carefully and rinse with warm water to remove salt crust and sludge. Do not use abrasive tools.
  • Check wiring: Follow the sensor cable to the control head. Reseat the connector and inspect for cuts or crushed insulation.
  • Test operation: Reinstall the sensor, restore power, and run the salt level test (if available in the menu). If Err 06 remains, replace the salt level sensor assembly.
