Possible Causes
Hardness sensor scaled over, Sensor cable damaged, Sensor out of calibration, Control board sensor input failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Isolate the softener and depressurize the system before removing any sensor from the water path.
- Verify programming: Confirm that the raw water hardness is correctly programmed in the Ecowater controller. Incorrect settings can mimic sensor faults.
- Inspect sensor: Locate the hardness or conductivity sensor on the outlet manifold (only on models equipped). Remove it carefully and check for limescale or iron deposits on the probe surfaces.
- Clean sensor: Soak the probe tip in a mild descaling solution (citric acid) and gently wipe clean. Rinse thoroughly with clean water before reinstalling.
- Check wiring: Follow the sensor cable to the control board. Reseat the connector and inspect for damage.
- Test with hardness kit: Use a manual hardness test kit on outlet water. If water is soft but the unit still shows Err 08, the sensor or control input is defective and should be replaced.
