Possible Causes

Resin bed fouled by iron or manganese, Incorrect hardness setting, Bypass valve partially open, Resin depletion or channeling in resin tank

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Depressurize the system before adjusting bypass valves.

  • Test hardness: Use a hardness test kit on both inlet and outlet water. Confirm that outlet water is not significantly softer.
  • Check bypass position: Ensure the Ecowater bypass is fully in the service position and not partially bypassing hard water.
  • Verify programming: Confirm the raw water hardness is correctly set in the controller. Understated hardness will cause premature hardness breakthrough.
  • Resin cleaning: If iron or manganese is present, perform a resin cleaner treatment according to Ecowater guidelines.
  • Resin replacement: If performance does not improve, the resin may be exhausted or channelled and the resin tank should be serviced or re-bedded by a technician.
