Possible Causes
Incorrect time or regeneration schedule, Power loss or dead transformer, Control board failure, Flow meter not registering usage on demand-initiated models
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: This troubleshooting is mostly electrical and programming; no need to open wet components initially. Unplug before removing covers.
Steps to diagnose:
- 1. Check display and time: Ensure the display is on and the time of day is correct. If the display is blank, test or replace the EcoWater transformer.
- 2. Verify regeneration mode: Confirm the unit is set to demand-initiated or time clock mode as intended, and that regeneration time is set to an hour when you are not using water.
- 3. Force a manual regeneration: Press and hold the regen button per the manual. If the valve does not move or the motor does not run, suspect a drive motor or control board issue.
- 4. Check flow meter: On demand models, verify that water usage is being counted (displayed gallons remaining decrease). If not, inspect and clean the EcoWater turbine/flow sensor.
- 5. Replace faulty components: If programming and power are correct but the unit will not regenerate, replace the drive motor or main control board as indicated by tests.
