Safety first: Place the unit in bypass and unplug it. The drain line may discharge to a floor drain—use caution around slippery surfaces.
Steps to correct:
- 1. Confirm continuous flow: Listen at the drain or observe the discharge. If water flows steadily when the unit should be in service, the valve is not sealing.
- 2. Manually cycle valve: Initiate a manual regeneration and allow the valve to move through all positions, then return to service. Sometimes debris can be flushed out.
- 3. Inspect internal seals: If the problem persists, depressurize the system, remove the control valve from the tank, and disassemble per EcoWater service instructions. Inspect the piston, seal pack, and rotor/disc for wear or debris.
- 4. Replace seal pack/piston: Install a new EcoWater seal pack and piston or rotor/disc kit as recommended for your model.
- 5. Reassemble and test: Reinstall the valve, restore water, and check that the drain line is dry during normal service.
