• 1. Observe backwash: During backwash, some discoloration is normal, but it should clear toward the end of the cycle. If it remains dark, resin is heavily fouled.
• 2. Check drain flow control: Inspect and clean the EcoWater drain line flow control (DLFC) to ensure proper backwash rate.
• 3. Use resin cleaner: Treat the resin with an iron-removal resin cleaner according to instructions.
• 4. Consider pre-treatment: If raw water iron is high, install an EcoWater iron filter ahead of the softener to reduce iron load.
• 5. Replace resin if needed: Severely iron-fouled resin may need to be replaced.
