Possible Causes

Faulty position switch or encoder, misaligned cam, broken cam tab, wiring issue between switch and control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power and close the inlet valve before opening the control head.

  • Inspect cam and switch: Remove the control cover and locate the cam and position switch (or encoder wheel on XTR). Check for broken tabs, loose mounting screws, or debris preventing proper contact.
  • Check wiring: Ensure the position switch/encoder harness is firmly connected to the control board and not damaged.
  • Manually index valve: With the bypass in service position but inlet closed, manually rotate the cam to the service position (refer to the valve manual). Restore power and see if the control now recognizes home position.
  • Clean or replace switch: If the switch is contaminated or corroded, clean contacts lightly. If still unreliable, replace the Fleck position switch/encoder assembly.
